After the Baja Marimba Band went into a permanent siesta, Julius Wechter was far from retired himself. With Joan Desberg Greenberg (a comedy writer), Wechter wrote a book which became the Growing Pains stage show. A lighthearted, wry and satirical look at marriage and a "24 year itch," the show featured music composed by Julius, with lyrics by Cissy Wechter and Faye Greenberg. In the 1986 production of this show, some notable names are listed among the credits, including legendary engineer Larry Levine (sound designer), arranger Alf Clausen, Michael Asher (musical director, conductor and pianist); in the orchestra pit are Asher and Harvey Newmark (bass), Chuck Christiansen (drums), Marjorie Poe (synthesizer), and Julie Greenberg (Julius's partner on the Baja Marimbas New Deal recording). A special A&M Corner "thanks" to Steve Shaw, who was a member of the stage grew of this production, as well as the donor of these items to the A&M Corner Gallery.

Wechter's successful clothing store in Encino. Cissy was the costume designer
for this production.

While not part of the stage production, this photo from 1996 was taken for the
